Go find some rubber duckies

Thanks to everyone who has said nice things about my entry, please also thank Rexy as his contributions really helped make it something special. Congratulations to 3Dnj as well, a really great entry. That is not to say the others were not great, there were many fantastic entries and lots of effort put in all round.

When the maps go live I’d like to challenge you to find the rubber duckies that have been hidden throughout the map. Hiding stuff in levels is something that designers like to do, if you’ve played HL2-Episode 2 and are into crawling around tight corners you may have seen an easter egg in Uriah’s lab and if you haven’t watched Lost you wont have a clue what you saw was. Well the duckies are something I’ve picked up from Nineaxis who worked on Furnace Creek and they’re making an appearance in my artpass map.

I’m not gunna tell you how many there are or where they are, all I’ll say is: None of the duckies are in the same place as the version you can currently download, so if you’ve already found them you’ll have to find them all over again once the map comes to you via steam.

A rubber duckie currently in artpass_ym

I haven’t set any thought towards a name for this map so if you have any ideas better than cp_mansion (ugh yuck) don’t hesitate to leave a comment, I’ve installed recaptcha for comments to block spam, I know they’re annoying to fill in and sometimes difficult to read but it has sucessfully stopped the spambots that were attacking the site.

Remember that for official maps an extra word can be added to the mapname eg pl_badwater shows up as “Badwater Basin” when you’re joining.

Personally I’m leaning towards cp_mann displaying as “Mann Manor”, let me know what you think.

    Why not cp_Mannsion?

Despite popular usage, puns are not the pinnacle of 21st century humour.

I read as far as “cp_mansion” and was going to suggest cp_mann_manor, but reading on, you’ve thought of that, and cp_mann is better. So yeah, I agree with your current name idea.
